These boots were made for walking!!

Wasn’t sure about this weeks blog. It’s been a bit of a crappy week but didn’t want to just feel like I was moaning. I will touch on it but thought as the weather was changing and the leaves were dropping I would talk about boots. I love my boots, and most of them are not made for walking. Can always be tempted with a pair of boots. Tall boots, short boots, high heel, flats, all shapes and sizes, I don’t really care. I do feel that my boots are protecting me, giving me comfort and warmth during the cold months.

My favourite make of my everyday boots are Carl Scarpa, Italian boot maker. I first came across these guys at the Horse of the Year shoe in Birmingham. Not quite sure what it has to do with horse riding, but they were there every year. Though to be honest many of the stands at the show had very little to do with horse riding. I bought my first pair when we went the first time in 2016 and I am still wearing them now. They are starting to get a little tired but are so comfortable and also stylish. I have since bought 2 more pair on subsequent visits. We don’t go any more, but my eldest daughter tells me there is a shop in Winchester, so may have to go on a visit to see if I can get some more.

My favourite dress up boots are a pair I bought in Milan on a surprise trip back in 2016. Hubby had arranged through work to turn up whilst I was working and whisk me off on a surprise anniversary weekend in Milan. I didn’t even know where I was going until I got to the airport. Anyway I digress, whilst there I purchased a pair of boots and shoes. I don’t wear them very often cause they are quite high, but they are great to jazz up a pair of jeans and also goes well with dresses and skirts.

The most sparkly boots are from Manolo Blahnik which I bought at Bicester Village. Always a good place to go if you want to pick up a bargain. These are not your everyday boot, and they go so well with my Karen Millen jeans with the diamanté strip down the outside leg. They are the pair you wear to the car, the restaurant and back again. Let’s just say these are not my dancing shoes.

What is in common with these boots are they are all black. If you want colourful, unusual boots the Joe Browns is the place to go. Make sure you check out when they have the discounts. They do boots in every colour and with some unusual patterns and designs.

One of my bug bears is that many of the really nice boots are in suede. Not that I have anything against suede boots, in fact I have many pairs. But we live in Britain and one thing that Britain is famous for is rain and lots of it. I find that suede boots or shoes are not great when the weather is rubbish. I often find the most lovely pair of boots and then realise that they are suede. This always makes me think twice. I do buy suede boots but do wish that more styles are in leather.

Maybe I will count how many pairs of boots I have, not as many as I have shoes, but I do have a lot. Saying that there is one pair of boots which I tend to buy every year to wear for work. My Clarks Pure Caddy Black boots, which come in leather and suede. I, of course, have the leather pair. I find these are so comfortable, though this year they are feeling a little snug. I wonder if I will need a slightly bigger size or I may try my stretcher.

A boot collection would not be complete without a pair of wellies. I use to buy Hunter wellies but horse pooh destroys them so I go for the cheaper more expendable versions. Still have the Hunter socks to wear though.

I also have that one pair of boots that I don’t wear outside of the house and is for my hubbies eyes only!!! Yes I am saying this. It is fine and fun. These boots are my Karen Millen Rhine-crusted long high-heeled boots. I am actually not sure I can wear them out as they are not the most comfortable boots in the world. But they do look good and sometimes that is all that counts!

Anyway, I could go on, but I wonder what is your favourite pair of boots and why?

Thanks

Lois

  1. Love my dr martens

  2. Not got lots of boots myself, I've got quite muscle calves so high boots don't always fit, plus wide feet. My favourite were some Doc Marten Chelsea boots, they lasted for years and years, came in handy at Madness concerts 😉
