Handbags at dawn!

 Gucci to match my shoes

Back to some fashion sense. I thought I would discuss why handbag choices are so important to finish off your outfit. Of course, there are those practical handbags which we cannot do without and those handbags which are purely beautiful and mostly not practical. Now I love handbags, not quite as much as shoes but I  mainly match the bag with the shoes.

I can’t remember my first handbag, but I do remember having a bag from a very early age. Those nights in the nightclub dancing around my handbag is a memory I can’t forget. I suppose one of my first luxury handbags was my Gucci ones to match the first pair of luxury shoes I bought. They were both designer and practical, a rare combination indeed. One of my best buys are my Louis Vuitton bags. I bought three in total over a short period of time. Two I bought Brisbane, Australia, when we were there for the weekend for a wedding (Yes I said weekend). I really love these designs because

they are not covered in the Louis Vuitton logo and are quite subtle. I bought these bags over 20 years ago and they still look perfect now. On another occasion I bought the same style but as a rucksack. I used this bag everyday for years, until the zip finally gave in. I was lucky enough to have a used one bought for me years later by my hubby (daughters idea), you couldn’t buy them new any more. It’s not perfect and little worn, but I use it every day and love it.

Of course, most of my purchases are evening bags to complete that perfect outfit. Anyone that followed my adventures on the high seas would have seen some of my bags. I do think that it is important to finish off that outfit the bag is important. The only issue is that compromise sometimes between what looks lovely and how much you can fit in it. With the arrival of mobile phones the useful size of the bag changed and you need to fit your mobile phone into it.

One of the most unusual bags I have is the one my hubby bought me that is made from recycled cars. You’d think it would be weird but it is beautiful. I love using it and it is often a talking point. Unfortunately I can’t find it. I am sure I still have it but it maybe in one of my boxes of bags in the loft. Something I will have to go and look for.

Bond and mason bag
Most of my bags are the ones that match the shoes I bought. I don’t always do it cause it doesn’t always work. But there are some combinations that do. I did find, before the big trip this year, a company that I have never used before, Bond and Mason. The bags are not ridiculous in price but they are well made and beautiful in design. Good if you want something glitzy and sparkly. I bought a couple before the holiday. The only problem is that they didn’t arrive before I left. The good thing is that I was due back in Southampton two weeks later and my lovely daughter drove down to Southampton to deliver them. We did buy her lunch. Another great brand are Kurt Geiger, have many of their shoes, but their bags are also fun.

My final bag is one of my most proudest. It is a Liberty of London bag designed by my niece. She is an amazing designer and it is fantastic to have something designed by family.

I think this blog is less talking and more pictures as I could write loads but think pictures are better.

Thanks

Lois
